Michigan Central OPEN house 2024
Created with Civic for Ford
Launch date: 7/13/2024

Michigan Central Station officially reopened its doors to the public for the first time in nearly four decades following an extensive six-year restoration by Ford Motor Company. More than 100,000 people are estimated to have participated in OPEN House, the reopening celebration for the iconic landmark.
Red Paper Heart was invited to create an immersive and captivating experience as the opening exhibit for the newly renovated Detroit Station. The exhibit serves as a tone setter, designed to welcome visitors back into the space after its transformation.
At the heart of the installation is a massive 15-foot LED cube, dubbed the "MC Cube," which acts as both a visual spectacle and an educational piece. The MC Cube tells the rich and dynamic story of the station’s history and its deep connection with the city of Detroit. Using high-resolution visuals, motion graphics, and immersive storytelling, the cube transforms historical events, architectural milestones, and the station’s cultural significance into an engaging narrative.
